Why the Death of Roger Ackroyd Matters

And yet another good post on detective fiction, from Christa at Chorister at Home (it must be the day for it). Her musings shed some light on my own preference for British detective stories over American ones.

In Defense of the Detective Novel

My friend E. L. Bates just wrote this quite excellent piece on the value of detective fiction. I agree with everything she says – and her point about the timeliness of detective novels is an interesting one. Check it out and see what you think.

Fun was had at the Sandhill Winery Artisan Spring Market. Thank you to everyone who came out to see me and to buy stuff. The ladybugs were a hit! And I sold some books too, which was great. What it says in the picture! Sandhill Winery on Richter Street (towards Knox Mountain), Artisan Spring Market, next weekend Sat & Sun. Come out and see all the cool stuff! I treated myself to @thesneakyartist Nishant Jain's book on making (sneaky) art. Picked it up around noon from @opusartsupplies, and had read it cover to cover a few hours later! I don't usually "read" art books (mostly look at them for inspiration), but this one is eminently readable. So encouraging and inspiring! Highly recommend! So I am - taa-daah! - letting out my inner Granny G'nome at the 4 Wands Faerie & Fantasy Fair in Sidney, BC, this weekend. Guess where we're going? I even got the T-shirt - ahead of time at a Value Village in Surrey (score!). It's a new book! Available today! New post on the blog: "Clay Palooza and Imposter Syndrome". On how being asked to be on the discussion panel at #Claypalooza triggered a big case of Imposter Syndrome, and what came of it. #Claypalooza at Vernon Community Arts Centre @vernonarts was awesome! My mug on a mug won second place (by half a point) in the "Handbuild a Mug in 15 Minutes" challenge, and our team, "The Others", won first place (also by half a point) in the "Team-build a Trophy" contest. I got to be on a discussion panel with master potter Bob Kingsmill, which was a huge honour. So much fun, so many good vibes. Pottery People are the best. Happy Day-to-Enjoy-People-You-Love! ♥️
